Yard Sale for the Cause

By Meredith Powell

Local realtor Bobby Reese is happy to announce the first annual Yard Sale for the Cause this coming March 26. Proceeds from the sale will equally benefit East Cooper Community Outreach (ECCO) and the Marshall Hoge family. This kick-off spring event will be held in the 10,000 square foot parking area of AgentOwned Realty at 824 Johnnie Dodds Boulevard, Mount Pleasant, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Donations were originally set to benefit the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, but a change of events gave Bobby a different idea. When Marshall Hoge, a real estate appraiser with Atlantic Appraisals, passed away suddenly in November of last year, Bobby decided that part of the fundraiser should go to help Hoge’s young family and assist with paying for the education of his two children.

ECCO is a local organization that “provides emergency assistance for food, clothing, household furnishings, and financial needs, as well as ongoing services which include medical, dental, prescription drug assistance, education and counseling.” Bobby approached Executive Director Jack Little about the Yard Sale and Little was more than excited to participate in the event.

All involved are hoping for a great turnout. The morning will be filled with a silent auction and raffle, food and drinks, and plenty of shopping. The public is welcome to shop or to rent a display table for $20. Up to 80 banquet-sized tables are permitted. Similar to an ordinary yard sale, vendors will keep all of the profits from their sold table merchandise. Bobby points out, though, that “if they want to let their hearts open up their wallets, we’ll take it.” The raffle drawing is planned for 1:30 p.m. and the winner of the $1500 Polly’s Jewelry diamond-sapphire ring does not have to be present to win as contact information is requested on the raffle ticket stubs – tickets are one for $2 or three for $5.

Sponsors include Liz and Boyd Loadholt of AgentOwned Realty Company, Bobby Reese of Sunbelt Business Brokers, Wally Burbage of Allstate Insurance and Kevin Breeland of Residential Mortgage of SC, LLC. Your attendance is requested, especially since this charity event is not just for one, but for two fantastic causes!
