Please take a moment to review the draft wayside exhibit for Thomson Park on Sullivan’s Island by clicking here. Our goal is to provide an exhibit that is easy to read and informative for the general public, so first impressions from casual readers are as important as authoritative critiques from knowledgeable historians.
We have reworked the exhibit to incorporate input from previous drafts. This exhibit provides context for the three original exhibits which describe the battle. You can see those exhibits and get more information at http://thomsonpark.wordpress.com/wayside-exhibits.
The TP4 Draft Panel image shows exactly how the exhibit would look. You may find the text easier to read in the TP4 Draft Text document. Please call or email me in the next few days if you can suggest improvements. Note that we cannot add words without deleting words due to space limitations. Please pay attention to presentation details as well as the historical accuracy, as this is intended to be the final review before we order the permanent exhibit.
You are welcome to drop by one of the on-site reviews if you’re in the area this weekend and would like to see the full-size draft exhibit at the park. Weather permitting, we will be soliciting feedback from Thomson Park visitors at the following times:
- Friday March 16 1:30 – 3:00pm
- Saturday March 17 10:30am – noon
- Sunday March 18 1:30 – 3:00pm
If the weather is uncertain, feel free to check with me at 843-860-9173 before making the trip. The little park is near the bridge leading from Sullivan’s Island to Isle of Palms, at 3241 Middle St across from Sunrise Presbyterian Church.
