Plunging Into 2015

Sullivan’s Island residents and many, many visitors celebrated the start of 2015 with the annual Dunleavy’s Polar Bear Plunge to benefit the Special Olympics. Balmy 50 degrees temps and sunny skies made it less bracing more slightly chilly. But despite the favorable temperature, there were still more spectators than actual plungers. Following some controversy over the event potentially attracting raucous crowds to the island, the event went off without a hitch. A fun time was had by all and the streets of Sullivan’s were left unscathed.
