A delicious Taste: Celebrating the 30th annual Taste of Charleston

As the Taste of Charleston weekend wrapped up on Sunday, October 10, at Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant, an estimated 9,000 people arrived to enjoy sample-size portions of signature dishes from more than 50 local restaurants. Sunday’s attractions also included live music from Homemade Wine, a three ton snow cone made by David Raih of Dr. Ice, a magic show performed by Ronald McDonald, an ice carving by Ice Age’s Brian Connors and a beer garden presented by Craft Beers from Lee Distributors. In the legendary Waiter’s Wine Race presented by SYSCO, 45 local servers and bartenders maneuvered through obstacle courses carrying a tray of full wine glasses. This year’s winner, Ryan Hileman of 82 Queen, received a bevy of prizes including a Hilton Head vacation provided by Thomas Stumph of AmericasCuisine, Charleston. The “Best Booth” trophy, awarded to the most impressively decorated serving area of a participating restaurant, went to Longhorn Steakhouse, and for the second year, the event followed the “Go Green” initiative with the help of Fisher Recycling.
