The event, hosted by Friends of SIES, raises money to provide direct financial support for faculty, equipment, and programs that would otherwise not be funded by Charleston County School District. Our goal is to enhance the learning experience in ways that strengthen the academic, physical and social, emotional, well being of each child.

Each year the money raised by our Friends of Sullivan’s Island School group funds additional teaching allocations in areas, such as, foreign language, technology, and special area classes. The funds also help with Schoolwide teacher wish list items. In the past money raised has gone toward purchasing touch tanks for the science lab and playground equipment. This year we are raising money for a new microphone system and pedal stools that enable students to keep active while working. Friends of Sullivan’s Island School is able to use funding for staffing positions because they have established a 501C3 account with the Coastal Community Foundation. Friends was the first school in Charleston County School District to create a 501C3 in 2004. Since that time Friends Board members have helped other schools with this process.” says Susan King, SIES Principal.
