Sullivan’s Island Police Report: July 2016


07/01 – A complainant reported that someone removed her bicycle from under her staircase where it had been stored.

07/02 – A subject located at Station 22 and Middle Street was grossly intoxicated and unable to provide information in order that he could get to a safe place. The subject was arrested and lodged in the county jail.

07/03 – Officers received a complainant of a dog locked in a vehicle with no water and the windows up. On arrival, the officers located the vehicle and dog and decided to remove the dog from the vehicle. The dog was lodged in the police department kennels. The owner of the dog came to the station to retrieve the dog; the owner was cited for animal cruelty and released.

07/03 – While on patrol, the officers observed a number of juveniles trespassing at a construction site. The juveniles were stopped and their parents were notified and the juveniles were released.

07/05 – A vehicle was observed looking suspicious on the side of the road. The officer approached and learned that the vehicle registration was suspended and the driver had an outstanding warrant. The driver was detained and handed over to Berkeley County Sheriff Office.

07/05 – Officers responded to a female passed out in a vehicle. On arrival, the officer located the subject. EMS was notified and the female refused medical treatment. The vehicle was towed and a taxi called to take the female home.

07/10 – While on patrol, an officer observed two subjects on a construction site out of work hours. As the officer approached the two, the male subject fled and was not able to be stopped. After further investigation it was learned that the female subject was underage, and the male was an adult. The female was released to her father and warrants were secured for the male subject.

07/12 – Officers responded to a residential alarm and found an unsecured door. The house was checked but a key holder was unable to respond, the door was secured.

07/16 – A complainant reported she received a phone call from a subject who stated he was from the sheriff’s office and had a warrant for her arrest for failure to appear. The complainant called the police department, and she was informed that it was a scam.

07/19 – A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. During the stop, it was learned that the driver had an outstanding warrant from Charleston County. The subject was transported to the county jail, where he was turned over.

07/19 – Police, Fire and EMS responded to a report of a subject attempting suicide, the subject was evaluated and taken to the hospital for treatment.

07/20 – A complainant reported that an unknown vehicle struck and damaged his mailbox sometime during the night.

07/27 – A vehicle was stopped for a traffic violation. During the stop it was learned that the driver’s license was suspended; the driver was arrested and lodged in the county jail.

07/28 – Police and fire departments responded to a report of a power line being pulled down by a truck. SCE&G responded and repaired the line.

07/30 – A complainant reported that between July 4-30 someone attempted to gain entry to her residence by use of what appears to be a screw driver.
