Oh, and in case you forgot….Deepwater Horizon was caused by human error!

Offshore drilling advocates continue to say how technology advances and operational procedures have advanced since Deepwater Horizon in 2010, the largest oil spill in U.S. history.

Technology might have improved but operational procedure rules have not.  In fact, the Trump Administration intends to rollback two critical rules dealing with production safety and well control that were put into place following Deepwater Horizon.  This has forced the introduction of federal legislation to codify those rules.  Co-sponsors are Congressmen Barragan (CA), Price (NC) and Christ (FL).

But no rules or technology can overcome the 20% of offshore oil spills like Deepwater Horizon that are caused by human error.

Mr. Richard Wildermann has prepared a valuable summary of the Deepwater Horizon spill.  You can read it here.
