The City of Isle of Palms is pleased to announce a new addition to the Coyote Expo at the Isle of Palms Recreation Center, located at 24 Twenty-Eighth Avenue, on Thursday, February 22, 2018 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Sean Poppy, the Outreach Program Coordinator of the Savannah River Ecology Laboratory from the University of Georgia has confirmed participation. His wildlife education presentation includes a live coyote named Scooter, which he rescued and raised from a pup. The coyote will remain inside his carrier throughout the presentation.
Additionally, this expo will offer exhibits providing information about coyote management strategies, options and resources for trapping on private property and information from state and federal agencies related to wildlife management.
Citizens are invited to come to the Recreation Center anytime between 5:30 and 7:00 p.m. to walk through the exhibits and displays available. The Coyote Expo will include exhibits and displays from the City of Isle of Palms Police Department, Town of Sullivan’s Island Police Department, Wild Dunes Coyote Coalition, Dewees Island, South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and several wildlife removal companies. “If you want to learn what your local government is doing to manage coyotes, and what options you as a property owner have if you are concerned about coyotes on your property, please attend and speak with the exhibitors at this event,” says Mayor Jimmy Carroll.
