BREAKING NEWS: Interim Isle Of Palms Police Chief To Retire In May

By Mimi Wood for Island Eye News

Isle of Palms Interim Police Chief Kimberly Usry announced last evening that she will be retiring from the IOP PD, effective 5/15/19.

Chief Usry cited familial reasons for her seemingly sudden announcement.

“My father is terminally ill, and I have to put family first. My mother is going to need me in the not-too-distant future.

Of course the Isle of Palms Police Department is my family too…but I won’t be able to serve both the IOP PD and my family effectively.”

Interim IOP City Administrator Desirée Fragoso told the IEN, “Interim Chief Usry has been dedicated to the Police Department and the community for 22 years. She advanced through the ranks from Telecommunicator to Interim Chief. As someone who grew up on the island,  it is no secret how much she loves the Isle of Palms. We will certainly miss her, her sense of humor and professionalism.”
